Iraqi National Arrested Following Sexual Harassment Incident on Berlin-Magdeburg Train
Police apprehended a 32-year-old man in central Magdeburg after he fled across railway tracks following an offense on a regional express.

German law enforcement authorities have opened a criminal investigation into a 32-year-old Iraqi national following an incident of sexual harassment aboard a passenger train in eastern Germany. The emergency control center of Deutsche Bahn alerted law enforcement shortly after midnight on Friday, November 6, regarding an emergency situation on a regional express train traveling on the route from Berlin to Magdeburg.
According to police reports, the incident began when the 32-year-old man sat directly opposite a 34-year-old female passenger during the journey. The suspect stared at the woman continuously before opening his trousers and manipulating his genitals in her presence. Seeking protection from the suspect's behavior, the victim immediately stood up from her seat and moved through the carriage to alert the train crew. The man followed her as she attempted to reach railway staff for help.
Upon the train's arrival at Magdeburg Main Station, the suspect attempted to evade law enforcement by leaping out of the carriage. He subsequently fled across active railway tracks in the direction of the Magdeburg city center. The emergency control center had alerted local forces as the train was approaching the station platform.
Officers from the Saxony-Anhalt State Police initiated a search in the immediate area and successfully located the fleeing suspect in the city center. Following his apprehension, the 32-year-old man was brought back to Magdeburg Main Station and handed over to the custody of the German Federal Police, who maintain primary jurisdiction over railway facilities.
Federal police authorities confirmed that formal criminal investigation proceedings have been opened against the 32-year-old suspect. The investigation into the sequence of events aboard the regional express remains ongoing.
