Spectator Hospitalised After Stand Collapse at Norwegian Football Match

A spectator was taken to the hospital on Sunday after a stand panel collapsed during a Norwegian top-flight football match between Tromso and Bodo/Glimt. Up to five supporters fell through the floor in the away section of Tromso’s stadium shortly before half-time amid heavy rainfall.

The Eliteserien fixture was stopped when Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin noticed the structural failure behind his goal and brought it to the attention of the match referee. In an official statement, Tromso confirmed that a serious incident had occurred in the away stand, resulting in a spectator falling through the structure and sustaining injuries.

Bodo/Glimt press officer Simen Pedersen stated that up to five fans fell through the gap in the stand and that one person was subsequently transported to the hospital. Official statements from the clubs provided no further details regarding the extent or severity of the injuries.

A supporter present in the section told the newspaper Verdens Gang that the floor cracked in two while fans were jumping to a song. Authorities instructed the visiting supporters to leave the affected away sector, while Tromso supporters cleared room in other areas of the stadium to accommodate the displaced visiting spectators.

Match officials, representatives from both clubs, the Norwegian Football Federation, local police, and supporter groups held consultations regarding whether to proceed with the game. Following the discussions, play resumed, with Bodo/Glimt winning the match after Ola Brynhildsen scored two goals. The victory moved Bodo/Glimt to the top of the Eliteserien table, ahead of Viking Stavanger on goal difference.
