Robert Pattinson Reportedly Auditions for James Bond Role in London

British actor Robert Pattinson recently participated in screen tests for the role of James Bond during auditions in London, according to reports by trade publications including The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and Deadline. The camera tests took place around the weekend of October 24 as studio executives evaluated potential lead actors. Amazon MGM Studios, which holds creative control over the franchise, has not issued any public confirmation regarding the auditions.

Alongside Pattinson, 36-year-old actor Nicholas Hoult was also among those tested for the role of the British secret agent. Other actors previously identified in media reports as potential candidates include Jack Lowden, Josh O'Connor, and Callum Turner. Trade outlets further reported that singer Harry Styles held preliminary discussions with producers, while actor Theo James remains under consideration.

The search for the next lead actor officially began in May 2025 following structural changes in the leadership of the franchise. Amazon MGM Studios acquired creative authority over the James Bond films in early 2025, taking over the role previously held by long-time producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. Director Denis Villeneuve is assigned to direct the upcoming feature, working from a screenplay written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

Pattinson's potential involvement follows his recent work with Villeneuve on the film Dune: Part Three, which is scheduled for theatrical release in mid-December. Prior expectations within the film industry had centered on the studio selecting a younger or lesser-known actor to assume the role after Daniel Craig completed his final appearance as Bond in the 2021 film No Time to Die. Pattinson recently appeared in The Odyssey and is set to film a sequel to The Batman.

Amazon MGM Studios has not established a public schedule for announcing the final casting decision or beginning production. The studio maintained silence following the reports of the London screen tests, leaving the schedule for the next installment unconfirmed.
